Mini-Me and the mini-family

If you’re unhappy with the way you look, you can always try on some new personalities at the comical, Lego-intensive website ReasonablyClever.com, where the Minimizer is one of many oddly intriguing inventions that have been cooked up and served. Shana, Mistress of the Shadowy Web, came across the site and had herself minimized, as you can find in her “advertisement” elsewhere on this page.
The Flash program gives you a wide choice of hair, eyes, hats, clothes and hand-held gear, plus several different backgrounds. You can see how my family ended up looking, above, after an hour or so mucking about. See the rest.

Mon 29th May, 2006, Bouguereau, Waterhouse

The guy was good, admit it

pieta

“Pietà” by William Bouguereau, 1876 (detail)
You must see the whole painting – click the image.

The denizens of Dali House have taunted William Bouguereau from the second-storey windows before upon seeing him saunter by in the street with his top hat and walking stick, but you know we’re just jealous. Bouguereau (1825-1905) was no second-storey man but a talent of the first order. (Some of his paintings take on a life of their own, literally – read on further down about the sultry nymphs of New York bardom.) See the rest.

Sat 27th May, 2006, Trompe l'optique, Beever (Julian)

Still Beevering away

Further to our recent envious mutterings about wealthy artists, Dali House’s American idol Terri submits evidence (see below) of just how simple it is for a skilled craftsman to come up with the filthy lucre.
It’s that chalk-covered Englishman Julian Beever again, who has tunnelled illusionary holes in this blog before. See the rest.

Streams of subconsciousness

I think Bob Dylan’s got something to say about this …

People disagreeing on all just about everything, yeah,
Makes you stop and all wonder why.
Why only yesterday I saw somebody on the street
Who just couldn’t help but cry.
Oh, this ol’ river keeps on rollin’, though,
No matter what gets in the way and which way the wind does blow,
And as long as it does I’ll just sit here
And watch the river flow.

The tenant’s got talent

A warm welcome to Winsome Gunning, who has rented a room at Dali House to promote her lovely art blog Art Walk. Click the Rent My Blog image at the lower left of the menu.
Winsome takes her inspiration from her garden, and judging from the paintings she’s done it’s easy to understand why. It’s been a long time since I had a chance to stroll in the woods or a blossoming garden. I think I’d better get back to it soon!
