Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was way ahead of his time, or at least his pal Maurice Guibert was. Guibert concocted this “trick photograph” of the diminutive post-impressionist about 1890, no mean feat considering the state of the art back then, when such illusions involved a lot of delicate glass and chemicals rather than just “duplicate layer > drag second image over first > flatten layers > select dodge tool …
