What Whistler was whistling at
“Harmony in Pink and Grey: Portrait of Lady Meux” by James Whistler is among the many great Western paintings in the Frick Collection in New York City, as laid out in astounding fashion for Google Earth by forum co-moderator LuciaM.
Her post is here and the collection is online here.
Whistler, incidentally, was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, 88 years before another artist of sorts showed up there – Dorseyland patron saint Jack Kerouac.
This is “Borgia Prince” by LuciaM, who’s been wonderfully helpful to me on a couple of occasions. She’s in the process of moving her own website to a better neighbourhood. It’s called VultureViews and features her artwork and jewellery, much of which has a birds of prey motif. She seems to have a thing for vultures, which may or may not be related to the fact that she’s got a thing for cemeteries.
You really should see what’s she’s dug up for Google Earth in the old graveyards of New York, where she lives (in the city, not the graveyards).
And I have to credit Lucia for the design of the new page at Dorseyland on my Google Earth posts. I lifted it wholesale from her website. Thanks, Lucia!

I love that painting!
