Dali Planet #147:
The Gustave Moreau Museum
The Gustave Moreau Museum was the setting chosen for Dali’s 1970 press conference to unveil plans for his Teatre-Museo Dali in Figueres. The following year he began working on murals at the museum, including “Palace of the Winds”, detail seen above, and installed fairground-type penny-in-the-slot machines so that visitors could view his 3D illusions.
The Moreau Museum was erected under the 19th-century romanticist painter’s guidance, on the site of his own home and studio, and opened in 1896, two years before he died.
Below are “The Second Coming of Christ” from 1971 and “The Face” from ‘72.
